The cottage. built in 1935 by the Crofts, has been modernized and enlarged to be used all year around. Grand Marais is known as Artsy-it is reflected by the local art on the walls. Close to activities summer and winter you can choose to be busy or laid back and just enjoy the lake, the sun, the stars....and maybe a storm! Welcome to Shoreside! I can be reached through Airbnb should you have any difficulties or questions. Croftville was a Fishing community. In the 1930's many fishermen up and down the shore built small cottages for tourism. Shoreside is one of them, it was built by a member of the Croft family. On the 1 1/2-mile Croftville road there are numerous fish houses still existing. Crofts were only one of the many fishing families who resided along this road. Croftville Road is a local walking road. 3 miles round trip. You will want a car for most ventures out. There's room for 2 cars at the cottage and another off the road near the blue storage shed. You are close to Grand Marais and the Gunflint trail. Grand Portage, an Ojibwe village and a National Monument, is not to be missed! Hint: follow Croftville road east, coming out by the Devils Track River, Continue east-for the next several miles you'll find complete public access to Lake Superior and her beaches. Enjoy!
