We are only .4 miles from the top of Beech Mountain, there are some fantastic restaurants there, and also Fred's General Store which sells basic groceries, to clothing and hardware... their slogan is "If we don't sell it, you don't need it." It's a pretty cool spot, if you need some ice cream, a sweatshirt, or a philips head screwdriver, you can probably find it at Fred's. There's even a Deli downstairs! The town of Banner Elk is at the base of the mountain, there are some more restaurants and things to do down that way as well. Behind the house, on the other side of the stream, there is a walking trail, Upper Pond Creek Trail - It's a nice walk, one way leads to Lake Coffey, a very scenic local fishing spot, and the other way leads to several other parks, Perry Park, and Beech Mountain Dog Park. The property is located on Charter Hills Rd, which is essentially a big loop. You can get back to the main road by going either way, so don't fret too much about which way you drive off. I have fit four vehicles in the driveway before, but it took some effort and coordination. Three vehicles or less fit much easier.
