Enjoy the Happiness Haven ~ Be in the heart of New Orleans
Be among the fortunate to stay in this charmed Nola abode! Well situated just one mile from the French Quarter, Jazz Fest, Frenchmen St, and beautiful City Park! This is the heart of New Orleans' best attractions, while anchored in a historic Creole neighborhood that exudes real southern warmth amidst a colorful sampling of New Orleans' architecture. Enjoy old Nawlins' charm with the comfort of the most modern amenities. Great for couples, groups, biz travelers & families. Top quality amenities and two separate king bedroom suites with a 3rd queen bedroom make the Haven a rare find! The open concept floor plan and sunny afternoon exposure provide a welcoming light-filled quality. Enjoy having two separate and private entrances (one directly from the street and one from the courtyard) to this flat created as a completely separate family residence on the ground floor of the main house. Host maintains guest comfort, privacy, and space but always available as needed (we live right upstairs in a separate 2nd floor residence). In typical New Orleans style, the Happiness Haven is made for entertaining and spending quality time with family and friends. There is the large open kitchen/living room space (with 55" flat screen TV) where you can relax, make meals together, and enjoy each others' company, as well as the authentic New Orleans' courtyard just outside the side entrance door (Note: We may occasionally cross paths walking through the courtyard which is fully available for your use throughout your stay.) The dual-master bedroom suites both have their own private baths. The comfortable deluxe queen-sized murphy bed, 40" flat screen TV, and desk with printer make the 3rd Bedroom a space to fulfill many needs. It may be used as a bedroom (which shares a bath with the 2nd Master Bedroom), reading/exercise/meditation room, dedicated office, or secondary TV room when the living room is otherwise occupied or media tastes diverge. In short, The Happiness Haven offers a lot of flexibility all in a beautiful setting that is designed for total comfort and togetherness with plenty of room for everyone to find their very own happy place. The main house was renovated in 2014 and this 1st floor in-law apartment was just completed in the spring of 2017. The house is in the city's historic landmark district. Note: This is a 1st floor apartment with low ceilings. Surprisingly, the overall brightness of the space and open floor plan make the ceiling height a subtle aspect of the Haven's overall coziness. You will have access to the Wi-Fi, cable TV (with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, the works on both flat screens TVs), the courtyard with gas grill (upon request), full kitchen with new appliances, and the washer/dryer unit. There is dedicated street parking for the Happiness Haven just steps away from the front door. We live upstairs and work from home during the day then tend to be out a lot on the weekends. You have your own private entrance to the apartment directly off of the street and via the courtyard. We may occasionally cross paths walking through the courtyard (fully available for your use throughout your stay) but otherwise, you are not likely to see us unless you call and need assistance. The 7th Ward is a historic Creole New Orleans' neighborhood. Many of the rich traditions of New Orleans' culture were born in the 7th Ward. Our home was owned by one of the most prominent Creole families in the city making it part of a long history of family and community of which we feel honored to take part. This area of the 7th Ward is known as Esplanade Ridge because of its proximity to Esplanade Ave and its ridge elevation. It is truly an urban neighborhood - a stone's throw to all the happenings but still with a quiet though friendly local community feel. New Orleans continues to change quickly right before our eyes so our neighborhood is quite mixed with families who have been here for generations and many newcomers to the city. This is also a popular neighborhood for AirBnB so you will often see other visitors heading your way. Walk 10 blocks (20 minutes) or take a $6-$8 Uber (approx.) to get to the French Quarter or Frenchmen St. Or, if it is Jazz Fest time, walk, bike, Uber/taxi 12 blocks in the opposite direction to get to the Fair Grounds. Walk three blocks to the picturesque Esplanade Ave. and take the bus or Uber to City Park where you can check out the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Sculpture Garden, the Botanical Garden, and so much more!
