Located in the heart of the Historic Alberta Arts district the Gem is sure to deliver a unique experience in custom designed, space efficient housing & convenient access to some of Portland's hottest spots, just steps away from diverse restaurants, natural food grocery stores, yoga, massage studios etc… You can walk or bike though one of our numerous beautiful parks or community gardens. There are also bus lines within a few blocks walk that take you all over the city. We love our neighborhood for offering the diversity of all these things, but with the peace and quiet of a neighborhood The open, vaulted, light-filled space will make the tiny home seem much bigger than it appears. It has everything you need whether you are visiting PDX for a few days or for an extended stay. We wanted the stand alone building to be tranquil, meditative, efficient, green-friendly environment combining both comfort & practicality in its footprint with vaulted ceilings and private bath combine to make the space feel & function spacious. The gem shares a garden with lots of bamboo rustling in the breeze, a fully landscaped yard space great for bird watching. We will send you the code upon arrival. You'll have complete private access to the unit you have rented. Also the grounds of the property, including patios & garden space which is shared. We do not offer early check in or out we want to allow for our cleaner to have the full cleaning time between guests. Interaction with Guests -We are just a phone call/email/text away! We are pretty hands off & will leave you to enjoy your stay for the most part. We live on the premises and say hi when we see you if we are not busy. We also monitor premises with security cameras for safety. Pets. While we do accept ONE pet (cats also allowed) we do have a pet fee as it takes extra hours to clean after them and we do so that there is no trace for the next guest. This requires extra cleaning. Please let us know when you book that you are bringing one and check pet when you enter number of people. Even service dogs are required to pay this fee and provide documentation. as its a extra time cleaning requirement. We do not allow pets unleashed in our yard garden. We also have two cats who spend time on the catio if your dog Is aggressive w cats when you walk by please do not reserve this rental. Getting Around Easy to walk, bike, take the bus from this location Freeway access from I-5 access via Alberta St or killingsworth Exit. Other Things to Note • Kitchen stove, cookware & utensils - enough to heat up a meal or prepare a simple one. Toaster oven, crock pot, juicer, stove, blender & Microwave. There are so many amazing restaurants nearby - we think you'll be out enjoying them more than cooking in the cottage • Outdoor sitting area with patio • All bedding & towels provided • Memory foam queen size mattress • Free Wi-Fi • Cadet heaters energy efficient No AC -TV etc.: We have a dvd and tape as well as ROKU for netflix, Cable movies stations, and Pandora. Maybe read a good book from our lending library? We have numerous informative magazines and info about Portland neighborhood offerings as well as a stocked bookshelf and games. There is wireless Internet. • Ample street parking & alley entrance if needed • Guest entrance along side of main house through gate House Rules -No parties or events -Check-in is after 3 out 10 -Smoking is NOT allowed. No smoking or vaping of tobacco is allowed on our property. -Respect the neighbors - houses are close together in this neighborhood, so please respect noise level after 9p & before 8am though we can not control neighbors. If enjoying the back yard be aware there might be people sleeping just next to you. -AIRPORT: Car: 15 minutes with no traffic -Taxi: About $25 from airport. -AMTRAK or GREYHOUND : About 30 minutes via MAX Yellow Line light rail and transfer to #72 bus. -PARKING – There is ample parking on the streets surrounding the property. Parking is not limited to any number of vehicles, though one vehicle per party is preferred. Vehicles may park on the street in front of the main house or anywhere in the neighborhood where parking is available. Any illegally parked cars are subject to towing; applicable fines/towing fees are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner. Housekeeping: There is no daily housekeeping service. While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. We suggest you bring beach towels. We do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the units. -The property is furnished and includes queen sized bed, couch all kitchen utensils, cookware, dining ware, french press coffee maker, fast heating hot water pot, stove, silverware, towels, sheets, spices, some condiments, iron, ironing board, TV and dvd/vcr player. -We do not keep the kitchen fully stocked with every item you may need, but we do provide condiments as well as coffee, tea, etc...which we leave out there for your convenience, however we cannot guarantee everything you may need will be out there, only the stocked items are guaranteed and the grocery is 3 blocks away. - stays over one week are subject to a possible extra cleaning fee depending on extra hours ($60 an hour) over 1.5 already paid by cleaning fee. -Maximum Occupancy: The maximum number of guests is limited to 2 persons. Our cancellation policy is strict and we recommend the purchase of CFAR travel insurance. We don’t issue refunds for extenuating circumstances and advise you insure your trip. You must clean up grill and space after use. -The property is furnished and includes a queen bed, extra queen sleeper couch, all kitchen utensils, cookware, dining ware, french press coffee maker, fast heating hot water pot, stove, silverware, towels, sheets, spices, some condiments, iron, ironing board, TV and dvd/vcr player. Considering your hosts/neighbors are non-smokers we would really appreciate it if any smoking could be done well away from the windows so it doesn't waft inside our home. No smoking indoors. 10 pm is quiet time around here. Thank you for being mindful about noise, and respecting the family neighborhood atmosphere :) We have a self check in system so please feel free to arrive anytime after 4:00 and check yourselves in. We do compost and recycle! Please help us to limit the amount of waste in the landfill! You will find both a basket for recycling and a compost bucket under the kitchen sink. Please only leave clean recyclables and no meat or cooked foods in the compost please, just fresh veggies and fruit scraps. And please make sure the gate is always closed and secure when you leave.
