The building is located on the New River. Within view of the property is the Bluestone Dam and Bellepoint park complete with covered picnic areas, playgrounds, and canoe/fishing access. Hinton is within the bounds of the New River Gorge National Park and Reserve and near beautiful Sandstone Falls. The renowned Greenbrier resort is a few minutes beyond Lewisburg. Beautiful Pipestem Resort Park is 20 minutes away. Hinton is located near Winterplace Ski resort and downtown historic Hinton. This apartment is of brick construction, one of three single level apartments. The apartment borders on the New River at the rear and is located just below the Bluestone Dam. A concrete porch overlooks the river and is furnished with chairs, bench, table, and sun umbrella. There are additional lawn chairs for use. (Smokers are free to smoke on the porch, but please not inside.) The apartment has oak hardwood flooring and is tastefully furnished and wallpapered. The apartment has a new refrigerator and new dishwasher. The kitchen is also furnished with coffee maker, microwave, toaster-oven, cooking utensils, dishes, garbage disposal and electric range. The living room has a large sofa and upholstered chairs and a wall-mounted television. The living room is equipped with plantation shutters. Bedroom one has a queen sized Mission style bed, chest of drawers, blanket chest and a large closet. Bedroom two has a full sized four-poster mahogany bed. The two bedrooms have plantation shutters. There are closets in each bedroom, bathroom and two closets in the hallway. The apartment is furnished with WI-FI at no additional charge. There is a hook-up for streaming programming but no local network. The laundry room has a new washer and dryer. There is a single car garage. The driveway can be used for additional parking. The apartment is just down the street from Bellepoint Park, its playground for children, basketball court, put in for watercraft, and Little League ball field. This part of town is a favorite of walkers and joggers, cyclists, bird watchers, and water enthusiasts. The huge Bluestone Dam is half-mile upstream and is fully visible from the back porch. The Greenbrier River joins the New River about one mile downstream. Waterfowl abounds, including snowy egrets, great blue herons, Canadian geese and other shore birds. There is a large variety of other North American birds, including American bald eagles that fish the New River and often consume their catch in a large dead tree on a channel island directly opposite the back porch. Deer also inhabit this same island. Golden eagles have also been observed from the rear of the property. In addition to the excellent platform to observe the wildlife, the owner provides binoculars for viewing the wildlife. There is also some simple fishing gear available. Summers County ARH Hospital is about a mile away. . Kroger’s and McDonalds are nearby, as is Walgreen’s Pharmacy. Quality dining is available at nearby Pipestem at the Oak Supper Club. The nearby park makes a great stop to have lunch amidst your outdoor adventures. Enjoy the New River Gorge National River just outside your door. Sandstone Falls of the New River is downstream. Bicycling to the Falls is encouraged. Enjoy two weekends of the Hinton Train Days in October. Enjoy a week of the Summers County Water Festival in August. Golf at Willowwood Country Club, locally. A little farther out, you may travel to Pipestem State Park and golf at their courses. There are also several award-winning courses located at Glade Springs Resort in Shady Springs, WV. Canoe, raft and kayak rentals are available a short distance away. Skiing at Winterplace is about half an hour away No pets are allowed. No smoking in the apartment. Always wind down the sun umbrella when not in use.
